Material Flow Process

Input
  • Incoming Gaylord containers of Snack-Ens pretzels, breadsticks, sesame nuggets, and rye chips are delivered by forklift truck on pallets to a powered roller conveyor. Each container holds one type of product.
  • Operator keys the identity of arriving loads into the host computer, which generates an expected receipt.
  • System generates bar code labels containing product identification and lot number.
  • Loads are accumulated on the conveyor, then raised to mezzanine level by a vertical reciprocating conveyor.
  • Bar code labels are scanned, loads weighed, and the information is stored in the inventory control system.
  • STVs pick up the pallets and deliver them to the designated unit load aisles for storage.
Output
  • As directed by the inventory control computer, the unit load retrieves pallets and delivers them to the loop STVs.
  • STVs transport the pallets to a lid removal station, which removes lids from the Gaylord containers.
  • Pallets are picked up by the shuttle STVs, which deliver them to individual hoppers for pretzels, breadsticks, sesame nuggets, and rye chips.
