Deep-Lane Pallet Rack
Deep-lane pallet rack provides high-density storage with pallets stored in lanes several positions deep. Because it requires fewer aisles, deep-lane pallet rack can store up to 75% more pallets than conventional pallet rack in the same amount of floor space. Forklifts enter the rack structure to store and retrieve pallets. Deep-lane pallet rack works best for storing a large quantity of relatively few SKUs.

Technology Overview
  • Bays in deep-lane pallet rack may have addresses that are identified by a Warehouse Management System (WMS) that directs operators where to store and retrieve items.
Operation
  • Input
    • Operator enters the rack structure to deliver the load to the bay designated for that SKU or finds an opening and records where the load was stored.
  • Output
    • Operator enters the rack structure to retrieve a full pallet from the rack using a forklift.
Applications
  • Ideally suited for storing a large quantity of relatively few SKUs; especially effective when one SKU is assigned per bay.
  • Works best in warehouses with 15 to 30 ft. ceiling clear heights.
