Workers enter the quantity to be picked into the Warehouse Management System O.C. Tanner to ensure accuracy to the order.
Problem
  • Picking the wrong part number.
  • Error in reading the part number on the box.
  • Picking from the wrong box.
  • Picking the wrong quantity.
  • Misreading the quantity on the order.
  • Miscounting the quantity picked.
Solution
  • Use a Warehouse Management Software (WMS) RF terminals, and bar code technology to:
    • Verify the part to be picked by reading the part number bar code.
    • Require workers to enter the quantity picked to ensure it matches the order quantity.
    • Ensure picked parts are placed in the correct box or tote.
    • Verify pick-from location.
    • Perform cycle counts of remaining quantity.

  • Use computer controlled weight counting to weigh-count small parts.
  • Use order weigh-on-the-fly technology to verify the weight of parts picked matches the calculated weight of the parts picked.
