Assumptions:

  1. This worksheet is designed to help the user select a mode of material transfer for a very simple system only (single load type). Many systems require a combination of technologies to form a hybrid design.
  2. This worksheet calculates most answers based on standard configurations for each transport technology. It does not consider customized transport systems.
Definitions:

  1. Manual = Person with cart
  2. Mechanical = Forklift, pallet jack, etc.
  3. Conveyor = Floor or elevated
  4. AGV = Automated Guided Vehicle
  5. STV = Sorting Transfer Vehicle
  6. Overhead Transport = Overhead Monorail
